Physiotherapist

Francesco graduated in Physiotherapy cum laude and later earned his Master of Science in Strength and Conditioning with Honours from the prestigious Middlesex University in London. He subsequently completed his PhD in Exercise Medicine at the Exercise Medicine Research Institute of Edith Cowan University (Perth, Western Australia), where he currently works. His research focuses on exploring how exercise may reduce mortality risk and on understanding the biological and clinical mechanisms underlying the benefits of exercise in people diagnosed with cancer.

Francesco has published several scientific papers in prestigious peer-reviewed journals and has been a keynote speaker at several national and international conferences on the topic “Exercise is Medicine.” In clinical practice, he applies his expertise to individuals with specific conditions, including cancer. In particular, he works with patients with breast and prostate cancer, aiming to help them improve their quality of life during and after the illness.

Dr. María Laura Nasi is a pioneering medical doctor specializing in Integrative Oncology, rooted in Psycho-Neuro-Immunology (PNI). With advanced training in Internal Medicine and Clinical Oncology (Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, New York), she has excelled in oncology research and led international projects. As a Mindfulness facilitator, she sees her role as a guide on the journey to self-knowledge, empowering individuals to lead healthier, more fulfilling lives through techniques such as mindfulness meditation, yoga, bioenergetics, expressive arts, and somatic practices for trauma healing. Dr. Nasi teaches PNI at various universities and offers engaging workshops on integrative health practices.

Clinical Psychologist, Champalimaud Foundation and President emeritus of IPOS

Luzia Travado is a clinical health psychologist specialized in psycho-oncology, holding a PhD from the University of Coimbra. She has over 35 years of hospital experience, with national and international relevance, in the integration of psycho-oncological care in the treatment of cancer patients. Currently, she is involved in clinical practice and research at the Champalimaud Foundation. In 2022, she received a prestigious international award for her work in promoting psycho-oncology.

Physical Therapist, Oncology

Scott Capozza, PT, MS works as an outpatient physiotherapist dedicated to oncology rehabilitation at Smilow Cancer Hospital at the Yale Cancer Center in Connecticut, USA. He is among the first class of board-certified clinical specialists in oncologic physical therapy in the United States. He holds several leadership positions within the American Physical Therapy Association.

Scott has taught as an adjunct professor in Oncology Physical Therapy for multiple universities in Connecticut and has delivered lectures to physiotherapy programs around the United States educating students about the benefits of oncology rehabilitation. He has presented professionally on the local, state, national and international level and has been a co-author on several peer-reviewed publications. He is also the co-author of the chapter ‘Young Adult Survivors’ in the textbook Oncology Rehabilitation: A Comprehensive Guidebook for Clinicians.

Lifestyle Medicine Health Coach

Julie Bach is the Founder and Executive Director of Wellness for Cancer, a global charity supporting individuals across the cancer continuum. She serves as the founding Chair of the Society for Integrative Oncology Health Coaching Special Interest Group (SIG), advancing the field of health coaching in oncology. Through the SIG, Julie is a co-author of the first landmark paper defining the role of health coaches in oncology, as well as a published commentary in the Journal of Integrative and Complementary Medicine. She is currently leading a team to uncover the leading practices of utilizing health coaches in cancer centers and just finished a project on developing the Global Competencies for Health Coaching in Oncology.

Bach developed the Cancer Health & Wellness Coaching continuing education training through more than a decade of work alongside physicians and supportive care practitioners and has delivered the program in five countries. She served as Program Architect for the Prescribing Wellness health coaching program with Hope & Beauty MD / Apricity Oncology. Through Wellness for Cancer, Living Well content for people touched by cancer is now accessible in over 6,000 retirement communities.

Formada em Medicina pela Universidade do Minho, completou pós-graduação em Imuno-Oncologia na Universidad de Navarra, formação avançada em Nutrição em Oncologia na Universidade Católica Portuguesa e o Curso deOncologia Integrativa da Mayo Clinic. Atualmente, frequenta o Programa deDoutoramento (PhD) em Survivorship na NOVA Medical School, centrado em intervenção multidisciplinar e outcomes em sobreviventes de cancro. É coordenadora de cursos de atualização médica (AHED e Dioscope) e mentora de projetos de sobrevivência e bem-estar oncológico, unindo ciência, empatia e inovação na prática clínica e académica.

Radiation Oncologist at the Portuguese Institute of Oncology of Porto, dedicated to the treatment of breast cancer. Postgraduate in Clinical Sexology since 2017 and Fellow of the European Committee of Sexual Medicine. Holds the Competence in Sexology from the Portuguese Medical Association. Works in sexual medicine consultations in private practice, is part of the Multidisciplinary OncoSexology Group at the Portuguese Institute of Oncology of Porto, and is the author of the Instagram page Mafalda Cruz MedSex, where she addresses sexology topics in an accessible and evidence-based way.

Consultant Clinical Oncologist

Dr Sarah Partridge is currently a Consultant Clinical Oncologist at Imperial Healthcare NHS Trust specialising in Head & Neck cancers based at Charing Cross hospital, where she has prinicipal investigator roles on a number of international trials, is an author of a number of peer-reviewed publications, and plays an active role in the Local Negotiating Committee.  

Awarded the Henry Myers Exhibition for psychological Medicine at medical school, her interests in Hypnotherapy were initiated during a Research Fellowship in Vancouver prior to starting her consultant post in 2002. This was consolidated by completing her Diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy with Distinction after which she founded a Hypnotherapy service at Charing Cross Hospital in 2007 with Dr Rumi Peynovska, supported by the Mind-Body Foundation. They later provided Self-Hypnosis training for patients within the Maggie’s Centre.  

She continues to integrate hypnosis within her busy clinical practice, educating medical students and Specialist Trainees as to its potential with a focus on fostering ongoing research. She has designed and produced a web-based initiative ‘www.Tranceform-Medical.com’ aimed at expanding its use, education and availability for cancer patients, alongside self-care and stress management resources for healthcare professionals.

Over the course of her career she has held roles in the London Deanery for Specialty Education, London Cancer Alliance Medicines & Chemotherapy Steering Group committees, as well as a College Tutor for the Royal College of Radiologists, and a medical examiner. She has taught within the Imperial Medical School curriculum focussed on topics related to Oncology and Ethics, recently supervised medical student Clinical Research and Innovation projects, and aims at integrating Hypnosis training into the Medical Curriculum. As a recent past-President for the Royal Society of Medicine Section for Hypnosis & Psychosomatic Medicine she remains dedicated to forge cross-specialty links to highlight the fascinating history, evidence-base and applications of adjuvant clinical hypnosis within a broad scope of medicine, given its adaptability, safety, and potential cost effectiveness.
